Samantha had pretty much taken up residence in the tv lounge, hijacking the television as much as she could when she knew there was going to be a World Cup game on.

She was there again today, curled up in "her" chair with her notebook on her lap despite the fact that she was just watching news coverage for the moment instead of an actual game. That was due to change any minute now, as she surfed between all the channels that had been covering it at all.

Well crap. That's upsetting.

'Manda just e-mailed me and told me that the guy from Captain Jack died the other day. I can't even remember how many times they'd play them during soccer games and practice and everything.

Now I'm having an urge to listen to them. Guess I'll have to go see if I have them on any of my CDs anywhere. I might have to e-mail her back and get her to send me songs if I don't.

Samantha slid her journal back into its "hiding place" under her bed. She'd learned by now that most people kept theirs in generally the same location, but really, there wasn't a lot she wrote in that journal that she was really worried about anyone finding out anyway. Especially not in a mansion full of people who could read what you were thinking about even if you hadn't written it down.

She grabbed her Geometry book and notebook, twisting her hair up into a loose and messy knot with a pen before heading downstairs. The game room was uninhabited for once, and she tossed her book onto one of the chairs before changing out the game in the X-Box and flopping down in front of it to lean back against the front of the chair.

Samantha had done about all the studying she could take today and had abandoned all her books in the middle of her bed to grab her skateboard and go wander across the grounds. She ended up seated on the edge of the dock with her feet hanging over the edge. Her skateboard was upside down on her lap, her tool kit open beside her as she changed out some of the parts that were beginning to show the signs of general wear.

After classes had finished and the entry had been written, Samantha had changed into a bathing suit, pulling regular clothes back over it. Her skateboard was fastened into her backpack with a towel and her CD player inside, then threading the headphones out through the zipper so she could listen to it. Two water bottles took up their spaces in the mesh holders on either side, and she grabbed her soccer ball. Homework could wait for later tonight, if she could ever get up the drive to do it. Considering she had only not finished something once or twice, she figured she could justify being lazy on her birthday.

The outdoor pool ended up being her first stop, and she dumped everything on a lawn chair before digging out her towel and spreading it out so she wouldn't put her CD player in too much risk of getting wet.

Holy crap.

As much as my boys might've let me down last weekend, that was one of the best games I have ever seen. Oh man. Games like that are the reason I love this sport.

Hm. I think Amanda's Dad might be a Revolution fan. I'll have to see if he taped or Tivoed it.

Games like that also make me want to play, and thankfully it's a nice day. Outside I go.
