Name: Samantha Macey Jordan
Codename: Nixie (German name meaning “water sprite”)
Age: 17
Birthday: June 21st
Face: Vanessa Anne Hudgens
- Height - 5'5"
- Hair - brown
- Eyes - brown
Mutation: Samantha can control water, as well as creating it in small amounts. Her powers are still developing, and she has developed decent control in mild to moderately stressful situations. Her creation of water is more based on drawing it together from moisture in the air around her. For larger amounts, it helps if she has a little bit to start with, as a bit of a primer. Controlling water comes from basically the same idea. Her power is mostly mentally based, and pulling water or controlling it comes with concentration.
Personality: Samantha has a certain disregard for authority, having dealt with many authority figures who looked down on her for her illness and claimed she was just faking it. Despite this, she is very choosy about when she does ignore her betters, as she does recognize that they do know best sometimes. She has an odd sense of humor and will sometimes laugh at things that come into her head, leaving others to wonder what she’s laughing at. Also, she has a bad habit of speaking before she really thinks about what she’s going to say, which sometimes confuses people as to how she made the connection between conversations. Samantha cherishes her friendships more now than ever, as she lost so many during the hunt for an explanation for her illnesses. Samantha prefers the outdoors to in and had perfected the act of climbing onto the roof of her parents' house.
-Strengths – Samantha cherishes her friends and will go out of her way to help people if they need it and will always follow through on promises she makes. She has a good sense of humor. Samantha is very outgoing and loves talking to new people and getting to know them, despite the amount of time it takes her to start trusting someone. She has become a bit more of a loner due to recent events, but it slowly improving again.
-Weaknesses – Samantha does get impatient with authority quickly, even if she does end up listening to them. It takes her a while to get to trust someone because she’s so afraid of being hurt by people she thinks are her friend. Samantha is impatient and gets frustrated quickly when things don’t go her way, which has caused her trouble in the past, though she’s working on this. At first, Samantha was scared about her mutation, and that fear still has some hold, though now that she's around other mutants, she's mostly curious. She is very insecure about herself and carries a bit of depression from the various experiences she’s been through. There are times when she'll seem to be perfectly happy, and something totally random will trigger a memory that will drop her into melancholy. Samantha’s greatest weakness will always be her constant need for something to drink. She dries out very quickly and has a water bottle that she carries with her almost all the time.
Relationships:
Brother - Alexander Jordan
Best friend - Amanda O'Neill
History: Samantha was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert and Kathryn Jordan. She has one older brother named Alex who is six years older. Around Samantha’s thirteenth birthday, she began to get incredibly thirsty very frequently. On two occasions, she had to be admitted to the hospital for dehydration, when she’d only gone several hours without anything to drink. Her parents made her stop playing soccer and riding her skateboard, her favorite pastimes, because they thought the exertion had something to do with her being so sick. After it continued, they took her to several doctors.
Numerous tests were run, all coming up negative. The students at Samantha’s school, as well as her teachers, began to whisper about her. Some believed she had something seriously wrong, but the rumors said she had AIDS or cancer or other such diseases. Other students thought she was lying about her illnesses just to get attention. In this latter group were many of her good friends, aside from one named Amanda O’Neill.
To get Samantha’s mind off all the flying rumors and deserting friends, Amanda started having Samantha over to her house nearly every day. Amanda’s family owned a pool, and Samantha turned to swimming to replace the time previously spent on soccer and skateboarding. Her parents were confused by the fact that, after she started swimming nearly every day, the frequency at which she became ill dropped to only once or twice a month. They continued to take her to doctors despite her insistence that she was fine.
Then, her family took a trip to visit some family at their house on a lake in Pennsylvania. Samantha and Alex were swimming one afternoon when Alex began to tease his younger sister. Samantha got upset and pushed her brother underwater. Somehow, when she came up, the water solidified over his head, holding him under. She became frantic and ran from the lake. Her uncle, alerted by her screaming, managed to drag Alex from the water. Either to cover for her, or to keep himself out of trouble for teasing her, Alex claimed he had gotten tangled in something underwater, but Samantha knew better. Something had happened at the lake, and it scared her into thinking there was something seriously wrong with her.
Back at home, Samantha mentioned the incident to her now best friend Amanda. Amanda doubted anything that happened had been Samantha’s fault, but Samantha was still scared. A few weeks passed with the doubt still brewing, and the end of school approached. Samantha was in science class when her professor began making comments about her actually being in class for once. Samantha got upset and began to cry and, soon after, the room began to flood as the water in the fish tanks and in the pipes in the lab began to answer Samantha’s cry. Afterward, only Amanda would speak to her, and the school finally decided to expel her because it was realized she might be one of the dreaded mutants and everyone knew how dangerous they could be. Her parents became cold and distant and expected Alex to follow suit. Rather than abandon his little sister this way, Alex moved his things out of his parent’s house and in with his girlfriend, Lilian Murphy, who felt the same way as he about Samantha. Their parents became even more severe to Samantha as a result, and finally, she could take no more. Samantha ran away one night while her parents were out to dinner with no real idea where she was heading. After about a week on the road, she stopped in a small diner to get herself something to eat and saw a news show about the mutant “problem.” In the show, they mentioned a school in upstate New York. Samantha then made this her final destination, walking and hitchhiking her way along.
On the way, Samantha stopped to spend the night under a railway bridge that looked as though it had been used by hobos at some point. There seemed to be no one there at the time, so she set up camp for the night. During the night, she woke to find a huge man standing over her. Before she could get fully awake, he held her down and raped her. By the time the train passed, it was over, and he had threatened her life if she ever told anyone. Samantha was terrified by him and continues to have nightmares about the experience, as well as having a fear of very large men. She’s also very shy when it comes to any boys.
Finally, Samantha got close to the school. However, she had run out of money on the way and so had had very little to drink. She reached NYC with the thought in her head that she could spend the night on a park bench. In the park, her desperate thoughts caught the attention of Emma Frost.
Her family was alerted to the fact that she was at the school. Alex found out through his parents and made sure to send her belongings. Samantha herself has not been in contact with their parents since she ran away. Alex still contacts her occasionally, and he still remains at odds with their parents. He also passed the information on to Amanda, who was terrified for her friend’s life when Samantha ran away without an explanation. However, she now understands the reason for her friend’s leaving.
Samantha's parents have recently totally turned their back on their daughter and joined the Mothers Against Mutant Assimilation (M.A.M.A.). She does spare them a thought from time to time, though she recognizes that her brother, his girlfriend, and Amanda and her family do care about her, as well as the people at the mansion.
Additional information: Samantha is, obviously, an excellent swimmer. She also loves being outdoors. She is still slightly afraid of large men who might remind her of the experience she had, and has told no one what happened. Also, she can be nervous when it comes to being around men while wearing a bathing suit and mostly wears baggy t-shirts and shorts to keep attention off her. Of course, this might also be because she would rather be playing sports than dressing up.
